Photographing the Elements of Art

Value

This is a picture of Seaside. It shows the element of value because it's dark towards the sides and once you work your way out it is brightened up by the city lights. I edited the photograph by lowering the highlights, increasing the vibrance, tint, saturation, dehaze, and sharpening a little bit.

Space

This is a picture of a lit candle in the dark. It shows the element of space because the candle is surrounded by nothing. I edited the photograph by decreasing the brilliance, highlights, shadows, contrast, and vibrance. I also increased the warmth to give the candle wax a melted effect.

Color

This is a picture of a book series. It shows the element of color because each book is a different color than one another. I edited the photograph by giving it a vivid look. Then I increased the highlights and brightness to lighten up the books.

Texture

This is a picture of a forest in Carmel. It shows the element of texture because you can see the uneven ground, slick leaves, and the rough branches. I edited the photograph by increasing the brilliance a little. I also decreased the shadows, contrast, brightness.

Lines

This is a picture of an empty street. It shows the element of lines because of the little cracks on the bike lane. Also the lines on the sidewalk. I edited the photograph by increasing the contrast, tint, clarity, and sharpening. I also decreased the exposure, highlights, temperature, and vignette.

Shape

This is a picture of rock's in the sea. It shows the element of shape because each rock has a different shape than each other. I edited the photograph by giving it a dramatic look. Then I decreased the highlights and saturation.
